CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate
Description
The CCNA is a certification that demonstrates that the owner has a basic/apprentice knowledge of networking.
It is maintained by Cisco Systems Inc.
Discussion
The CCNA is a certification that covers the basics of networking. This includes concepts such as installing, configuring and operating LANs and WANs as well as working with IP, Frame Relay and other protocols.
Cisco offers some courses for preparing for this certification.
- Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies (INTRO) v2.1
- Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND) v2.3
Certification Criteria:
To be considered certified, the following criteria must be satisfied:
- The candidate must sign a confidentiality legal agreement;
- The candidate must pass one or two exams (depending on the route the individual takes) that include an introduction to Cisco networking technologies as well as how to interconnect them.
This certification must be renewed every three years. This includes an exam to prove current knowledge.
